LIGHTGLASS TECHNICAL PRINCIPLE
The Fusion of Light and Glass.
LIGHTGLASS is the first industrially available, self-luminous glass for the world market.
Switched off LIGHTGLASS has the appearance of normal multi-pane insulating glass, but when switched on it becomes a homogeneous, dimmable full-surface light source.
LIGHTGLASS is available in the following variations: Brilliant White, Tunable (HCL), and Rainbow (RGB-B).

The LIGHTGLASS System consists of components developed solely for use in insulating glass for both indoor and outdoor applications and qualifies for an EN 1279 certification
LIGHTGLASS is compatible with most control applications and can easily be set up to run with:
- Mobile Apps
- Various automated building protocols (DALI)
- Most regulation protocols (DMX)
- External sensors (light, motion, proximity)
- PC/ Laptop
Other Smart Home Platforms such as Apple home, Alexa, Osram Lightify, Bosch Smart Home, Ikea Tradfri, Loxone, …) will also be included.
MULTI GLAZING UNITS
The MGU is made from standard float glass or extra-white float glass with a product-specific special frame as space holder. The illuminating medium between the panes is activated via the edge lights creating a homogeneous, dimmable full-surface light source.
Once activated the glass becomes less transparent (privacy mode) and in certain versions specific sections of the panes can be made to separately light, dim, or remain clear.
Individual panes can be of TVG „heat strengthened glass“, ESG „tempered glass“, VSG „laminated glass“
Compatible with all typical functional and design coatings, Low-E Coatings and silkscreen/digital prints. Compatible with special soundproof and security glass.
LED CIRCUIT BOARD
LIGHTGLASS utilizes specially developed LED circuits thermally mounted on a cooling profile as a light source.
The lighting system is fitted outside the sealed chamber of the insulating glass and can be easily cleaned with the LIGHTGLASS key connector system.
Special lenses in the frame optimize the influx of the LED light into the illuminating medium. Thus LIGHTGLASS can minimize heat introduction and secures lasting life span of the LED.
